World Superyacht Awards 2026: Defining a New Era

The World Superyacht Awards 2026 drew the industry to Venice earlier this month, where the most significant new builds and refits of the past year were recognised. Now in its 21st edition, the awards remain one of the few judged by yacht owners themselves, grounding each decision in lived experience rather than theory.

This year’s winners reflect a clear evolution in the world of luxury yachts. Innovation is no longer a standalone feature, but something embedded across propulsion, layout and long-range capability. Sustainability is not positioned as an addition, but as a baseline expectation. And perhaps most notably, there is a growing emphasis on yachts as platforms for experience, not just presence.

Here’s some of the best Superyacht Awards winners 2026 that best capture that shift.

118.8m, M/Y Breakthrough

Motor Yacht of the Year

M/Y Breakthrough took the top honour at the World Superyacht Awards 2026, also winning in the Displacement Motor Yachts 5,000GT and above category. Built by Feadship, the 118.8-metre project represents one of the most significant technical shifts the industry has seen in recent years.

At its core is the integration of cryogenic hydrogen fuel cells, enabling zero-emission operation under certain conditions. This was not simply an upgrade, but a complete rethink of how propulsion systems are designed and regulated. Entire frameworks had to be developed in parallel with construction, from storage to safety protocols.

What makes Breakthrough notable is not just the ambition, but the execution. The complexity of the engineering sits beneath a yacht that still feels composed and resolved. Interiors by RWD remain warm and liveable, while the exterior balances scale with restraint.

It is a project that reframes what is possible, without losing sight of what a yacht should be.

65m, S/Y Aquarius

Sailing Yacht of the Year

S/Y Aquarius, built by Royal Huisman, was awarded Sailing Yacht of the Year, alongside winning the Sailing Yachts 40m and above category. At 65 metres, it builds on the legacy of its predecessor while pushing performance further.

Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects, Aquarius is first and foremost a sailing yacht. A taller mast, generous sail plan and lifting keel prioritise light-air performance and responsiveness over convenience. The result is a yacht capable of real sailing, not just the appearance of it.

The design remains measured. The clipper bow and overhanging stern give it a sense of timelessness, while the interiors, by Mark Whiteley, introduce a quieter, more contemporary layer.

In a year defined by technological milestones, Aquarius stands out for a different reason. It refines rather than reinvents, and in doing so, feels completely assured.

43.9m, M/Y Dolce

Voyager’s Award

The Voyager’s Award recognises the journey rather than the object, and M/Y Dolce was a clear recipient. Built by Bloemsma Van Breemen, it has covered more than 40,000 nautical miles, circumnavigating the globe through some of its most remote regions.

This is a yacht defined by use. From the Caribbean to Southeast Asia, across the Indian Ocean and into the Pacific, Dolce has been shaped by movement rather than display.

Its design supports that intent. Robust, efficient and built for long-range cruising, it prioritises autonomy and reliability over excess. What sets it apart is not a single feature, but a mindset. It reflects a growing shift towards yachts that are experienced fully, rather than simply owned.

79.2m, M/Y Moonstone

Rebuilt Yachts

CREDIT: MOONSTONE x Amels Yachting

M/Y Moonstone, originally delivered by Delta Marine, won in the Rebuilt Yachts category following an extensive transformation at Amels Yachting.

The scale of the project is significant. A 7.2-metre extension created space for a new wellness centre and pool, while large sections of the yacht were reconfigured both structurally and spatially.

The redesign, led by Harrison Eidsgaard, feels cohesive rather than layered, balancing the original character with a more contemporary approach to onboard living. Rebuilds at this level are complex, but Moonstone demonstrates how they can extend not just lifespan, but relevance.

57m, M/Y Solace

Refitted Yachts

CREDIT: Solace x Christie Yachts

Originally launched as Twizzle, M/Y Solace underwent a comprehensive refit at Pendennis, earning it the Refitted Yachts award at the World Superyacht Awards 2026. Rather than redefining the yacht, the approach was to return to and refine its original identity. Vickers Studio, involved in the initial build, led the interiors, restoring a sense of continuity while adapting the yacht for modern use.

At the same time, the technical scope expanded significantly. The yacht is now equipped for extended cruising, including high-latitude regions, with upgraded systems and reconfigured spaces to support longer journeys.

49.8m, M/Y Orion

Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 40m+

CREDIT: Orion x Heesen

Built by Heesen, M/Y Orion represents the evolution of the yard’s Fast Displacement Hull Form series, earning its place among the superyacht awards winners 2026. At 49.8 metres, it combines performance with a more thoughtful approach to onboard living. Hybrid propulsion allows for near-silent cruising at lower speeds, while the layout has been reworked to prioritise usable space.

A relocated engine room frees up the stern for a dedicated wellness area, while full-height glazing strengthens the connection between interior and exterior spaces.

46.7m, M/Y RJ (now Parati)

Displacement Motor Yachts 499GT and below (45m to 49.9m)

CREDIT: RJ 155.39 (Parati) x Cantiere delle Marche

Delivered by Cantiere delle Marche, M/Y RJ, now known as Parati, won in one of the most competitive displacement categories at the World Superyacht Awards 2026.

The yacht stands out for its highly personalised design. Interiors by Achille Salvagni lean towards soft minimalism, with curved forms and natural materials creating a calm, almost introspective atmosphere.

Externally, the design balances explorer capability with a more refined aesthetic. Built for long-range cruising, it retains the robustness expected of the yard while introducing a more expressive design language. It is a yacht shaped closely around its owner, and that clarity of vision is what gives it strength.

67m, M/Y Lady Estey

Displacement Motor Yachts 500GT to 1,499GT

M/Y Lady Estey, built by Benetti, won in the 500GT to 1,499GT displacement category. Part of the Benetti Now 67 series, the yacht has been heavily customised, particularly across the interior spaces. Designed in collaboration with Sinot, the focus is on flexibility and flow, with large windows and open layouts reinforcing a connection to the surrounding environment.

The Oasis Deck concept anchors the design, creating a more fluid relationship between interior and exterior, with water, light and space used deliberately. At this scale, it is not about maximising volume, but about how that volume is used.

Superyacht Awards Winners 2026

The World Superyacht Awards winners 2026 show that innovation is no longer confined to engineering alone, but extends to how yachts are used, experienced and understood over time.

From hydrogen-powered propulsion to global circumnavigation, and from rebuilds to refined refits, the projects recognised this year share a common thread. They prioritise purpose alongside design. In Venice, the message felt clear. The future of superyachting is not about excess, but about intention.
