The White Lotus Heads to the Riviera – Expect Yachts

The White Lotus Season 4 is officially on its way, and this time, the setting shifts to the south of France. Filming is taking place across Cannes, St Tropez and Monaco, with much of the action unfolding around the Cannes Film Festival – a backdrop that feels fitting for a show built on spectacle, status and carefully curated lives.

Details are still emerging, but the shape of the story is familiar: a new cast of guests, a luxury hotel, a week in paradise, and the slow unravelling that follows. If previous seasons are anything to go by, the location will do more than provide scenery. It will shape the mood, the dynamics, and the way everything unfolds.

White Lotus Season 4: Welcome to the French Riviera

Few shows have captured the atmosphere of modern luxury travel quite like The White Lotus. Since its first season in Hawaii, the series has used place as both setting and character – from the languid heat of Sicily to the lush intensity of Thailand. Each destination has brought its own rhythm, its own tensions, its own kind of beauty, and the French Riviera feels like a natural next chapter.

There is a particular kind of energy to this stretch of coastline. In Cannes, especially during the festival, the luxury vibe is palpable. World-class hotels fill with actors, directors and industry figures; terraces become meeting rooms; the line between work and leisure dissolves. In nearby Monaco and St Tropez, the atmosphere shifts again – less about cinema, more about presence. Yachts line the ports, anchored just far enough offshore to be noticed.

White Lotus Yachts

Yachts are a part of The White Lotus visual language throughout every season so far. They appear briefly, sometimes in the background, sometimes at the centre of things, but always with a certain weight. In Sicily, they marked movement – day trips along the coast, arrivals by sea, a sense of freedom just out of reach. In Thailand, they took on a more central role.

Season three introduced SpaceCat, a 35.9-metre catamaran that quickly became one of the show’s most memorable settings.

The 37m White Lotus Yacht SpaceCat

Built by SilverYachts and designed with space and openness in mind, the vessel is less a traditional yacht and more a floating villa. Spread across three decks, with an 18-foot pool, multiple lounging areas and space for eight guests, it was designed for long, unhurried days on the water – and, in the case of The White Lotus, for the kind of social dynamics that don’t quite stay relaxed.

Scenes played out against the backdrop of Phuket’s coastline and the marine parks of Koh Samui, the calm setting in contrast to the tension on board. It was, in many ways, a perfect extension of the show’s tone: beautiful, expansive, and slightly unsettling once you look closer.

Off-screen, SpaceCat has taken on a life of its own. Following its appearance in the series, the yacht became one of the most talked-about vessels in Southeast Asia’s charter market, available for charter from around $175,000 per week before its recent sale in April 2026. It is a reminder of how closely the show’s world overlaps with the real one – not entirely aspirational, but not entirely fictional either.

The White Lotus yachts on the French Riviera

With the move to the Riviera, it is difficult to imagine that yachts won’t return to the hit series in some form. If anything, our guess is that they are likely to become even more visible. In Cannes, the harbour fills with superyachts during the festival, their decks hosting private parties and quiet meetings away from the crowds. In Monaco, they are part of the everyday backdrop. In St Tropez, they drift just offshore, a constant presence.

For a series that has always been as much about atmosphere as plot, the south of France offers plenty to work with. The light is sharper, the pace quicker, the sense of being watched more pronounced. It is a setting where small moments can feel amplified, and where appearances matter, even when no one is saying so directly.

White Lotus Season 4 Hotels

The setting this time shifts to the French Riviera, with filming split between two distinct hotels. In St Tropez, Airelles Château de la Messardière becomes the White Lotus du Cap, a hilltop estate set above the town, where the coastline and Pampelonne’s beach clubs stretch out below. It has that removed, almost suspended feeling the show leans into: close to everything, but just far enough away.

In Cannes, the focus moves to the Hôtel Martinez, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is recast as White Lotus Cannes in Season 4. Here, the mood changes. This is the Croisette at full volume: red carpets, late nights, and a constant flow of arrivals and departures. Between the two, the season unfolds against the Riviera’s two defining rhythms: retreat and spectacle.

When will White Lotus Season 4 Come Out?

For now, much of the new season remains under wraps (aside from the news of Helena Bonham-Carter already quitting the cast). But if The White Lotus has proven anything, it is that location is never incidental. It shapes the story in ways that only become clear once everything is in motion.

On the Riviera, that motion will likely extend beyond the hotel – out to sea, where the horizon always feels just close enough to reach, and just far enough to keep things slightly out of grasp.

The White Lotus Season 4 is expected to hit screens in early 2027.
